Left-Eye Gets the Tupac Treatment for TLC Reunion

A decade after Left-Eye's tragic death, TLC announced it is reuniting, with an on-screen projection standing in for the late singer-MC

Left-Eye is getting the Tupac treatment.

On the 10-year anniversary of the TLC member's untimely death, her bandmates T-Boz (aka Tionne Watkins) and Chilli (aka Rozonda Thomas) announced Wednesday they're reuniting for a new album and tour — replete with Left-Eye (aka Lisa Lopes).

The late singer-rapper's image will be projected on-stage on a giant screen, a la Tupac at Coachella, Billboard reported.

Unlike Tupac's hologram, though, Left-Eye will appear only through archival footage to sing and rhyme with the trio, whose '90s hits "Waterfalls" and "No Scrubs" made it one of the best-selling girl groups ever.

In addition to the reunion tour, TLC's surviving members expect a VH1 biopic about the group to come out later this year and plan to release an album of new music.

Left-Eye, who had a reputation in her lifetime as the loose cannon in the group, died in a car accident in Honduras in 2002 — just as TLC was beginning work on an album, Chilli told Essence in an interview published Wednesday.

"It's still something that hurts," T-Boz said in a statement Wednesday.
