“Sound of Music” Daughter Dies in Maryland

The music stopped in Towson, Md., Tuesday with the passing of the woman who inspired one of the beloved characters from the “Sound of Music.”

Agathe von Trapp, 97, died at a hospice after suffering from congestive heart failure.

Von Trapp was depicted in the 1959 play and 1965 movie by the character “Lisel,” who sang “Sixteen Going on Seventeen.”

She was the eldest child of Georg Ritter von Trapp. After escaping the Nazis in Austria, she performed with her siblings as the Trapp Family Singers.

Agathe von Trapp is survived by three sisters and a brother.
