Seven bulls escaped a Spanish film set for a new action comedy starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz and injured two women during their 40 minute run, according to reports.

Cruise and Diaz were not on the set for “Knight & Day” on Sunday. They are set to arrive in the southern Spanish city of Cadiz for filming next weekend, The Associated Press reported.

After slightly injuring two women, the bulls were eventually recaptured on a nearby beach.

“Knight & Day’s” Spanish producer said he did not know how the bulls – who are being used in scenes that imitate the famous run in Pamplona – escaped.

"Nothing will be filmed in Cadiz until we have a new plan that guarantees the safety of local residents," a spokesman for the mayor of Cadiz told a local newspaper.

Anti-bullfighting activists stepped up a letter-writing campaign last week to urge Cruise and Diaz to bow out of the film, according to AFP
