Talk about a backhanded compliment.

"American Psycho" author Bret Easton Ellis, upon hearing that a remake of his 1991 book (which was last adapted in 2000 with Christan Bale) was in the works, claimed he would only approve it if they cast someone who, in his mind, perfectly captured the story's slicked-back, corporate '80s psychopath Patrick Bateman.

That person? Scott Disick.

Yes, Kourtney Kardashian's boyfriend and the father of her son -- who walks around on his off-days looking a bit like a Patrick Bateman cosplayer -- is Ellis' choice, and he has gone on the record with his desire to see Disick take on his satirical novel.

"I have warned Lionsgate that I will not approve a new version of American Psycho unless it stars SCOTT DISICK," tweeted Ellis.

He added that he's also OK with little-known actor Miles Fisher ("Final Destination 5"), which is funny because Fisher is known for his resemblance to Tom Cruise, who Bale claims was the basis for his take of the Bateman character in the 2000 film.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Disick is going to bite. After Ellis tweeted, "I am waiting for Scott Disick to ask: 'Who in the hell is Bret Easton Ellis'" Disick himself took to Twitter in response.

"Not going to happen, I know just who u r!" he wrote. Although earlier he had joked, "just heard there [sic] doing a remake of American Psycho! best news i have ever heard! i hope they call me!"

Stay tuned.
