1990s Rapper MC Supreme ID'd as Victim in Fatal Malibu Crash

A man who died in a crash on Pacific Coast Highway was identified by his family Sunday as rapper MC Supreme, best known for his 1990s single "Black in America."

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 47-year-old Dewayne Lawrence Coleman.

His sister, Irene Coleman, said he leaves behind a 19-year-old daughter in college.

Coleman was killed when a pickup truck collided with his parked Honda Civic early Saturday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene, and a woman who was also in the car was transported to a hospital with injuries.

After the truck collided with Coleman's car, it flipped over and slid into a parked pickup truck, according to deputies. The man and girl sitting in the parked pickup truck were uninjured, while the driver of the moving pickup, 34-year-old Philip Torres II, sustained minor injuries.

Torres was arrested and booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station on a vehicular manslaughter charge.

Irene Coleman said her brother was an advocate against gang violence.

She and her family plan to work to have safety improved along PCH.
