Anita Baker Announces Retirement on Twitter

If you're waiting for Baker's next tour or CD, you're in for a long wait.

This songstress will sing no more.

On Jan. 12, in a series of tweets, Grammy Award winner Anita Baker decided to put the speculation about her retirement from music to rest by tweeting "Lotta rumours out there. No. Tour. No CD. #Retired."

Just two weeks ahead of her 59th birthday, Baker also tweeted "retirement was 1 of many goals/dreams #SuchaBlessing."

Baker started her career in 1979 with soul group Chapter 8. Baker eventually rose to fame following the release of her second album, "Rapture,"which includes the single "Sweet Love." The song won a Grammy for Best Single in 1987.

Baker received eight Grammy Awards for her works. She also retires with five platinum albums and one gold album.
