A Washington woman who accused David Copperfield of luring her to his private island in the Bahamas and raping her — and who was later charged with fabricating sexual assault claims against another man — is dropping her federal lawsuit against the magician.

Attorneys for the woman announced her decision in a statement Tuesday.

The woman claimed Copperfield pulled her out of the crowd during a perfomance in Kennewick, in southeastern Washington. She was later invited to visit his Bahamas island in July 2007.

Copperfield claimed all along that her allegations amounted to an extortion attempt, and his lawyers said that view was vindicated late last year when the woman was charged with making a false sexual assault claim against another man in Bellevue, Wash.
