Roseanne Barr To Write & Star In New Sitcom

Roseanne Barr is set to return to the world of primetime sitcoms.

The self-proclaimed original domestic goddess has nabbed a deal with 20th Century Fox Television to write and star in "Downwardly Mobile" – a new sitcom, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Steven Greener, executive producer of the star's Lifetime reality show, "Roseanne's Nuts" (which debuted earlier this summer), will also serve as EP for the sitcom, the website reported.

"Downwardly Mobile" will reportedly center around a "blue-collar family living through hard times," according to EW, much like the Connor family of Roseanne's former self-titled sitcom, which enjoyed a nine-year run before its end in 1997.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the outspoken actress has made her desire to return to primetime known.

"I do want to be back on TV," Roseanne told Access Hollywood back in January, at a signing for her book, "Roseannearchy: Dispatches from the Nut Farm. "If anyone can figure out how to get me on there where I don't have to talk to anybody wearing a suit, I would do it."
