Michael Jackson to Be Buried on Birthday: Dad

King of Pop to be buried in Los Angeles cemetery

Michael Jackson will be laid to rest on his birthday, his father said.

The King of Pop, placed in a gold-plated casket, will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles on Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. on what would have been his 51st birthday, father Joe Jackson told the New York Daily News.

Papa Jackson indicated that the family had made the final burial plans within the last several days -- nearly two months after Jackson's shocking death at his rented home in Holmby Hills, Calif., on June 25, the paper reported.

The elder Jackson said he planned to return to Las Vegas after the Saturday burial to receive a celebrity star in his honor at a movie theater at the Palms where Jackson used to go with his three children, according to the News.

Jackson he was cooperating with the Los Angeles Police Department, which continues to investigate what led to the 50-year-old singer's death.

The father said he was afraid Dr. Conrad Murray -- who was with the singer before he died -- may be unfairly targeted as "the fall guy for a whole lot of people," he told the News.

The doctor is the subject of an investigation into his administration of the powerful anestheticPropofol. He denies wrongdoing.

Jackson claimed he tried to see his son before he died but "the security guards wouldn't let me get to him."

John Ritter, David Carradine and Bette Davis are among the stars buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
