Leonard Nimoy, who played the iconic series character Spock, is recovering after being treated for “minor benign abdominal surgery,” E! Online reported.
"Star Trek" fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Details about the operation or where it happened were not disclosed.
On its Web site, the Center said that the actor is “recovering beautifully" and that Nimoy’s wife Susan “extends her thanks to everyone for their get-well wishes.”
E! Online also said that the 79-year-old Nimoy also canceled his appearance at the MOCA in Massachusetts and that both of those events will be rescheduled.
In May, it was reported that Nimoy’s guest spot on the season finale of the FOX TV series "Fringe" would be his last ever appearance as an actor and that he was retiring.
