Jon Turns to Judaism: “I'm Now Half Jewish & Half Korean”

Reality TV dad seeks advice of Jewish community

Oy vey.

Ex-reality TV dad Jon Gosselin, who has been rumored to be considering converting to Judaism, sought the advice of an esteemed rabbi over the weekend on how to raise his kids, according to Usmagazine.com.

"My question is, obviously I'm going through a divorce, and it's pretty public," Gosselin said, addressing panelists at Manhattan's Central Synagogue Sunday night. "What are two or three values can I use to raise good kids?"

Jon, whose 22-year-old girlfriend Hailey Glassman is Jewish, has sought the spiritual leadership of Judaism before. Among those on the panel over the weekend was rabbi Shmuley Boteach, with whom Jon spoke about possibly converting to the religion.

Panelist Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor, told Gosselin "not to be a hypocrite. Children see hypocrisy and they don't respect it."

Dr. Mehmet Oz, also on the panel, said that "kids don't always do what their parents tell them to ... [don't get] caught up in te Hollywood hype. This is your family, and you must care for them."

Gosselin said earlier this month he practically considers himself Jewish because those around him in his life are primarily Jews.

"This is the first year I will celebrate Chanukah," Jon told parentdish.com. "Hailey is Jewish. Everyone in my life is Jewish now, my attorney. I love it. I'm now half Jewish and half Korean.

"The family values are great."
