Kirstie Alley Feels “Good” About 17-Year-Old Son's Engagement

Kirstie Alley has never had a problem talking about her own personal search for love.

Along those same lines, she couldn't be happier for her son, True, who recently got engaged – even if he's only 17.

"How long has he been dating this young lady?" Ellen DeGeneres asked Kirstie during an interview on Monday, which will air on Tuesday's "Ellen DeGeneres Show."

"He's been dating her for a year," Kirstie said.

So how does mom feel about her teen son getting ready to walk down the aisle?

"I feel good because they're really in love," she continued. "True's got a level head. He's a good guy. He's very monogamous and he's very sweet with her."

True – whose real name is William True Stevenson – is one of two children (along with 15-year-old daughter Lillie Price) adopted by Kirstie while she was married to Parker Stevenson, before the couple divorced in 1997.

However, Kirstie is hoping her son's marriage doesn't follow in her own relationship footsteps.

"I was married [when] I was just 19 years old and that didn't work. Then I was married when I was 30 years old and that's when everyone said you should get married and that didn't work," she told Ellen. "So, I don't think I'm an expert on the subject. So, I think if somebody's in love and wants to be married then let them be in love and get married."
