Katy Perry: “I Never Claimed I Was a Nun!”

If you expect Katy Perry at this point in her career to be concerned or have regrets about her image, you are way mistaken.

“We’re past that,” the pop star told Elle magazine for its March issue. “I’m a sexy girl, so what? I never claimed I was a nun!”

In the new interview, Perry talked about the various aspects of her life, including her persona, career and figure.

“I was shaped like a square at one time. I was! I’m generally around 130 pounds, which is totally fine for me. But when I was a kid, I was the same height and weighed more like 145. And I had enormous boobs that I didn’t know what to do with, so I wore minimizers, which were not cute. Those thick-ass straps! I got made fun of for the over-the-shoulder boulder holder…and all I wanted was to look like Kate Moss. Little did I know…that these things would come in handy someday.”

She also spoke about the man in her life, husband Russell Brand. “Everything clicked really fast. We kind of instantly got past all the surfacey stuff. And ever since then, there hasn’t been a dull moment.”

The singer also said that people are now seeing her beyond being a flash in the pan. "I have a lot more to bring to the table. I’m trying to give people music that they can hopefully adopt as a soundtrack to their lives—songs that speak to a whole range of emotions.”

Perry will be embarking on her California Dreams tour.
