Jennifer Grey was in serious pain when she won top honors on "Dancing with The Stars."

The "Dirty Dancing" star underwent surgery last week to repair the ruptured disc she suffered on the first night of the ABC hit's two-night finale. Dr. Robert Bray removed "a huge fragment" from Grey's back during the operation, according to People magazine. The surgery was deemed a success.

"I'm still recovering at home," the 50-year-old actress told People. "I have to rest a bit more, but I feel great – completely pain free."

Bray, who performed the operation at the D.I.S.C. Sports and Spine Center in Marina del Rey, Calif., told the magazine Grey "can go back to her family, pilates, dancing – just about anything she wants to do."

Grey felt searing pain in her lower back on Nov. 21, the night of the first of two fnale shows. By the next morning, "she was in tears. She absolutely could not move," Bray said. "Pain was shooting down her leg."

When the doctor told her she wasn't at risk of making the injury worse, Grey and pro partner, Derek Hough went out and won the show's 11th season contest.
