Garth Brooks Sings Praises of Virginia

Gov. McDonnell promotes tourism with singer

Gov. Bob McDonnell is teaming up with country singer Garth Brooks to promote tourism throughout Virginia.

McDonnell and Brooks are appearing in a new public service announcement. In it, McDonnell commends the tourism and film industries for bringing jobs to Virginia. Brooks, meanwhile, praises the state's beautiful landscapes and people.

Brooks visited Virginia because of his role producing a TV movie called "Unanswered Prayers" that is airing on the Lifetime Network. It was shot entirely in Virginia and stars Samantha Mathis and Eric Close. The movie is based on a popular Garth Brooks song of the same name.

The public service announcement was filmed on the steps of the Virginia State Capitol. It will run in January and February on PBS in four Virginia markets.
