Bret Michaels Ready to Rock on New TV Show

Nothing can keep Bret Michaels down, and nothing can keep the oft-stricken Poison frontman off TV, either.

The rocker, who won "Celebrity Apprentice" despite suffering a life-threatening brain hemorrhage and a stroke earlier this year and is due for heart surgery in January, will be back on reality TV on Oct. 18 with a new VH1 show.

"The show balances both of my passions," Michaels, 47, told People magazine before serenading tailgaters at the NFL's Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots game in south Florida this week. "Viewers will see me interacting with my family and making music on the road."

The new show, called "Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It," will show his family life with daughters Raine, 10, and Jorja, 5, and their mother, Kristi Gibson, who has been Michaels's on again-off again girlfriend for the past 16 years.

"[This] show is different because it is unprotected reality, proving how hard it is for me to balance my love for the girls and my work on the road," he says. "In the show, I learn both patience and negotiating skills from my daughters, and at the same time I talk to them about serious issues like life, death and protecting themselves from harm. It is totally fun!"

One reality show Michaels has no desire to compete on is ABC's "Dancing with the Stars."

"That is one reality show I don't think the audience would like to watch [me on]," he says, laughing. "I am totally uncoordinated. I would love to make music but should leave the dancing to others."
