Inside the Artists' Realm

When you buy a piece of kitchenware, clothing or art, the understanding of where and how it was made might never really cross your mind. This weekend, though, you can walk right into those artists' studios.

Once a year for the past three decades, Western Maryland artists have welcomed the public into their studios to see and hear about how they hone their crafts during the Valley Craft Network's Holiday Studio Tour.

Admission is free for all; it's really up to you how many studios to visit. We guess you could look at it as a "Sideways"-road trip, sans Paul Giamatti, wine... or a mid-life crisis. (We're hoping.)

The artists featured this year will be making everything from pottery, paintings, woodworks, sculptures and plenty more. Find detailed artist info and a map to each studio here.

The studio tour runs Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
