New Season of Train Rides at B&O Railroad Museum

The B&O Railroad Museum is open for a new season of train rides, historical events and fun.

Never experienced B&O train rides before? Get ready for some rail history: The experience features a round-trip train ride aboard the Mile One Express, along the first commercial mile of railroad track in the U.S. It's recognized as the birthplace of American railroading.

History buffs also will enjoy "The War Came By Train" exhibitions, which feature galleries, antique railroad equipment, living history interpreters and scale models.

Kids can't keep their hands off the hands-on exhibits at the museum, including the toddler time play area, the train carousel and the Choo Choo Blueville miniature town. "Day Out With Thomas" events are also quite popular. On April 24 through 26 and May 1 through 3, Thomas the Tank Engine will be at the museum to talk to his fans and take them on a 25-minute train ride. Train ride and event tickets for the Thomas the Tank Engine event are $21 per person.

Regular-season train rides are available Wednesdays through Fridays at 11:30 a.m.; Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.; and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Train rides are an additional $3 for adults and $2 for children with paid museum admission.

The B&O Railroad Museum is located at 901. W. Pratt St. in Baltimore, about two hours from downtown D.C.
