Across the Universe at Robinson Nature Center

If you're ever taken an astronomy class in school, we'd be willing to believe it was your favorite class -- who wouldn't love peering through a telescope as the universe reveals itself to you?

Of course, astronomy courses also sometimes involve physics... so if you took one of those, we understand your concern.

Fortunately, you won't need to work out any equations on the speed of light at the rustic yet modern Robinson Nature Center (6692 Cedar Lane, Columbia, Md.). Instead of desks, you'll have comfy, cushy seats on which to relax.

As you sit back, stars and galaxies will swirl overhead during the show during the center's Nature Sphere Nights. You'll get the chance to explore the universe's black holes and constellations as they come to life in the digital planetarium/dome movie theater.

Other events at the Robinson Nature Center include a two-story "Life of the Forest" exhibit, a wildlife viewing area, interactive exhibits, and hands-on activities for kids.

Tickets are $6. Two shows run each first Friday of the month, 6:30-7:30 p.m. and 8-9 p.m.
