Carriage Rides in Harrisonburg: Moonlight Optional!

Make the best of a Saturday and spend an afternoon (or evening) with live music, craft shopping and carriage rides. Even better, you can do it among the always-blooming plants -- winter, be damned! -- at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum (780 University Blvd., Harrisonburg, Va.) on Saturday, Dec. 10 (1-8 p.m.).

You'll get to spend some time with a pair of Belgians (horses, that is) and travel the forest trails of the arboretum, Harrisonburg's most popular wedding ceremony destination, for a moonlight carriage ride.

Your coachman will be decked out in a tux and top hat, and we're pretty darn sure the moon plans on being extra big and extra bright just for the occasion.

The arboretum is located at James Madison University, about 130 miles from downtown D.C. Tickets are carriage rides are $10 for those older than 7, and $7 kids age 2-7. Kids under age two who ride on a lap are free.

Private carriage rides are also available for $58.
