Attention All Zombies: It isn't very often that we -- the un-undead -- allow you to trespass on prison grounds, or any ground at all, for that matter. But the Lorton Prison is defunct; proceed to frighten.
Attention All Non-Zombies: In life, you need to stay away from two main things: prison and zombies. Unfortunately, if you attend the Run from the Zombies 5k/1k race, you'll get your dose of both.
There's more than a good change that you'll encounter a few braineaters during Run From the Zombies on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Lorton, Va.
The 1K/5K run starts at South County High School, then meanders through the forest and down an old county road. It should all be quite peaceful -- until you reach the prison grounds, where killer zombies await your arrival.
Worth the Trip
The race benefits the Lorton Arts Foundation and the Lorton Museum. Start time is 2 p.m. sharp with the first 250 runners receiving a zombie shirt.
Registration is $40 for the 5K and $20 for the 1K. South County High School is located at 8501 Silverbrook Road in Lorton, Va., about 23 miles from downtown DC.
