Is a tomato really a fruit? That would be a great question to ask at the Hanover Tomato Festival this Saturday, July 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The fest features live bluegrass and rock, the crowning of Miss Hanover (really) and a kids' activity area. More than 200 vendors will be on site with plenty of food, crafts and activities. We're personally excited about the allergy screening. It's always good to know why you're sneezing, right?

Contests will include best-dressed tomato (for the kids), ugliest tomato and best salsa.

The festival is located at Pole Green Park (8996 Pole Green Park Lane, Mechanicsville, Va.), about two hours south of downtown D.C. Admission is free.
