Ever wondered what the brain of a genius would look like? Well, now you can see one for yourself.
No, seriously, you can. The Mütter Museum (19 S. 22nd St., Philadelphia, Penn.) has Albert Einstein’s brain on display.
While the Mütter is known for having out-of-the-ordinary exhibits, they now have a bit of pure intellect on their hands. Well, not literally, thank goodness. The museum received a portion of Einstein’s brain from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and is displaying the portions on slides (think fillet-cut pieces of brain. Delish if you're a zombie!).
While at the museum, check out specimens such as the Hyrtl Skull Collection, the tallest skeleton currently on display in North America, the conjoined liver from famous twins Chang and Eng Bunker (the original "Siamese twins"), and a special exhibit on the Soap Lady. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for kids. The museum is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. We don't recommend eating within two hours of your visit. Just a suggestion.
Coming up soon is Murder at the Mütter, a murder mystery night on April 27 from 6 to 10 p.m. Explore the forensics behind the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. The evening includes a live re-enactment of the assassination, an interactive investigation of the crime scene, and a discussion led by contemporary forensic experts.
