When an event almost requires you to jam, then it’s definitely worth your time to attend.
The D.C. Bluegrass Festival (...which is actually in Maryland) invites you to bring your instruments and show off your singing chops for a jammin’ good time... and the chance to win the $800 DCBU band competition.
If you’re not musically inclined and prefer to listen instead of play, don't sweat it -- you are indeed permitted to sit back and enjoy the tunes of seven headlining bluegrass bands including The Boxcars and Sierra Hull &Highway 111.
Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25, you can expect nonstop bluegrass jam sessions. Saturday will also offer workshops that allow you to play with the best in bluegrass and receive vocal lessons from the members of The Boxcars and local legend Dede Wyland.
Admission for both days is $60; partial days start at $15.
The fest is hosted at the Holiday Inn (10000 Baltimore Ave., College Park, Md.); get a discount on your stay by mentioning D.C. Bluegrass Festival. Call 301-345-6700 for hotel reservations.
