If the weather suits it, try a candlelight tour of historic Alexandria, along with a much-needed chocolate fix.
On Saturday, Dec. 14 and Sunday, Dec. 15, make your way to the Gadsby's Tavern Museum (138 N. Royal St., Alexandria, Va.) for a twilight tour of this old city while you learn thing or two about the history of chocolate.
You'll hear about (and taste) how chocolate found its way into the recipes of today and see a selection of authentic products from the days of our ancestors, complete with demos by the History Division of Mars.
The candlelight tour will take you to the Carlyle House, Gadsby's Tavern Museum, historic Bank of Alexandria and the Lee-Fendall House, with live musical performances at each location.
Sites can be toured in any order, and a shuttle will take you between each site both days if you'd rather not walk. Tickets are $20 per adult and $5 for kids ages 6-17.
A presale discount is available if you buy before Dec. 1. Tickets can be picked up at Will Call at Gadsby's Tavern Museum the night of the event.
Saturday's event runs 6-9 p.m. and Sunday's is 3-6 p.m.
