Where will you find the best food in Alexandria? Sure, judges will be at the second annual Alexandria Food and Wine Festival, but you'll also get the chance to decide for yourself. We know, what a difficult challenge.
The fest is coming up Saturday, June 22 in Old Town's Carlyle Square, where you can taste signature eats from Alexandria restaurants such as Clyde's, Caprese Mexican Grill and Theismann's Restaurant. A panel of judges will award a winner in the categories of best appetizers, best main course and best dessert.
Attendees can also relax in the on-site wine garden, where 15 Virginia wineries will serve up samples. (A separate admission fee applies).
The festival isn't just food and drink. Entertainment is scheduled throughout the day, including performances from local artists Frankojazz and Hand Painted Swinger, and a children's corner will offer arts and crafts activities.
Admission is free; sampling tickets are $15 for eight food sampling tickets. Food items "cost" between one and four tickets. Access to the wine garden is $10 to sample and $2 for designated drivers.
The fest runs from noon until 7 p.m.
