‘Night Before Christmas' Train Gets Rolling in Pennsylvania

Don't even bother getting the kids of of their PJs for this one! Strasburg's "Night Before Christmas" train keeps it casual as you cozy up for a book reading and nom on some cookies and milk.

Gather your family, put the kids in pajamas (yes, really) and board this cozy train ride to listen to a rider in Victorian garb read "The Night Before Christmas" and other storybooks.

The Christmas train leaves at 7 p.m. both Friday, Dec. 7 and Friday, Dec. 14. Visitors young and old will also be able to board the Tinsel Trolly, a self-propelled motor car.
 
Coach car tickets are $17 for adults, $11 for kids age 3-11, and $3 for kids under 3. Tickets for the first-class lounge car and parlor car are $26 for all ages. All cars will have readers.
 
Another option: Santa's Paradise Express the weekends of Dec. 8-9 and 15-16. This train ride travels to Paradise, Pa., and back with Santa aboard, with plenty of story readings as well. Kids ages 3-11 will receive a special gift during the ride.
 
The historic Strasburg Railroad is located at 301 Gap Road in Ronks, Pa., about 110 miles from downtown D.C.
