Wine, Herbs and History at Boordy Vineyards

So you say you've never witnessed what winemaking was like in the 1800s? Shocking!

Maybe it's time for a trip to the Wine and Herb Festival coming up May 26 and 27 at Boordy Vineyards (12820 Long Green Pike, Hydes, Md.).

Besides tasting Boordy's newly released spring wines, you'll also have the chance to sample six others wines, munch on organic breads and cheeses, and take home herbs and perennials, all included within the ticket price ($12/adult).

Wagon rides and winery tours will be ongoing throughout the weekend, while a living history camp on site will feature an inside look at herbs and wine in the 19th century.

The lesson you'll likely learn, after all is said and done, is that wine is good. At least that's our take on it.

The festival runs from 1-5 p.m. each day, about an hour and half from downtown D.C.
