Rolling (Down a Hill) New Year's Eve

Become a kid again (or just bring your children) and roll in the New Year at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond (1800 Lakeside Avenue). We mean roll literally, as in roll down a hill to the rose garden.

Rolling down hills is an annual tradition at the botanical garden, and it's all part of the New Year's Eve Family Frolic Event being held Dec. 31 from 2-5 p.m.

There will be live music performed by the Ululating Mummies (2:30-4:30 p.m.) and other activities including creating your own noise-maker and party hat as well as adding your wish for 2012 to the "wishing chain."  Children (and adults) bring your cameras to capture a photo with the butterfly fairy and the garden keeper.

Don't worry parents, the event is inside (at the Education and Library Complex) so no need to worry about bundling up, unless you want to stay and attend the Gardenfest of Lights (5-10p.m.). The Gardenfest of Lights has nightly s'more toasting at the firepit, a challenging maze, bird's eye views from the tree house and warm beverages.

All activities are included with regular garden admission (adults $11, children $7). The Gardenfest of lights is also included if you attend the NYE Family Frolic.
