Neil Armstrong. First man on the moon. Ring any bells?
You can see a piece of history for yourself at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia, where the gloves and visor that Armstrong used on his first walk on the moon are now on display.
The items from this pivotal journey were previously locked away in storage along with his flight suit. You better act fast, though. These items will be on display for two weeks only.
The display honors the memory of Armstong, who died Aug. 25. The Smithsonian Magazine’s blog reports:
Curator Cathy Lewis says the museum wanted to bring the delicate objects out of storage, “In honor of Neil Armstrong and his life and his work, but also just to give our visitors a sense of human scale.”
And they're not light-years away -- you'll find them at 14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway in Chantilly, Va., about 30 miles from downtown D.C.
