Hee Haw! Conan O'Brien Vows to Just Be Funny on TBS

Conan O'Brien was back in full-on funny mode this week as he spoke to advertisers and reporters about his eagerly-awaited new cable show on Wednesday in New York.

"My vision for the new TBS show is to pick up where 'Hee Haw' left off," O'Brien told the crowd, according to USA Today. "My hunch is that 32-year-old males want to hear corny jokes and lots of classic country music."

He might have been joking there. But O'Brien has been getting to know his fans during his nationwide comedy tour. And he's feeling the love. "I signed my first breast recently," he said. "(It was) a guy."

After the tour ends June 14 he'll start planning the hour-long program to air four nights a week at 11 p.m. ET.

He promised to move on, even if the new show will be "influenced by the last couple of months." That being his difficult departure from NBC as discussed in O'Brien's recent somber "60 Minutes" interview.

"The plot to "Lost" is more plausible than the last year of my life," he added Wednesday. "(But) I'm interested in moving on. I really just want to be funny on television. That's all I ever want to do."

O'Brien also made light of his move to basic cable from the NBC empire, saying he believes in "basic-cable television. I don't want to live in a country with less than six ESPN channels."
