Conan O'Brien Looking More Like a Fox Every Day

Conan O'Brien is starting to look very at home at Fox.

Not only is the former "Tonight" show star resuming discussions for a potential late-night talk on the network, but he was also asked to take part in one of the network's most celebrated programs.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that O'Brien was approached to participate in Fox's "Idol Gives Back" charity special which airs on April 21.

While not directly related to the late-night discussions -- the actual invite came from Idol's producer 19 Entertainment --  the move presents the impression of a star in the Fox fold, which THR called "intriguing."

O'Brien's former bosses at NBC blocked the Idol appearance under the terms of  the massive payout package he received. O'Brien cannot make any television appearances until May 1. But the Fox talks continue even as O'Brien looks into his upcoming comedy tour and other options for a talk-show.

Of the added signs that there is Fox momentum: O'Brien's 30-city tour has a performance every night except for May 17 -- which happens to be Fox's upfront in New York. Previous reports have stated that Murdoch himself hoped for a deal by the upfronts in order to make a splash -- and an appearance by a signed O'Brien would certainly do that.
