Zaillian in Talks to Script “Girl Who Played With Fire”

Having already adapted the global bestseller "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" for the silver screen, Steve Zaillian is negotiating a deal that would have him write the script for the second installment in Stieg Larsson's "Millennium Trilogy."

"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" already has David Fincher directing, Daniel Craig in the role of investigative journalist Mikail Bloomkvist and is currently engaged in one of the most closely watched casting hunts in Hollywood history. The search for "The Girl" has attracted nearly every actress on Earth under the age of 30.

Look, can we just take it on faith that Zaillian, Fincher, Craig and whoever is cast as the female lead are in talks -- or have already agreed -- to be a part of all three films in the trilogy?

It would take an act of God for the "Millennium Trilogy" films to be anything short of a hit. Take the popularity of the books, combine the film-making talents already on board and you've got as close to a sure thing as there is in Hollywood.

They could cast Phyllis Diller as "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and the movie would take in $100 million. So until further notice, just assume everybody's all-in.
