Another Dark, Fun Title Sacrificed to Focus Groups

The upcoming artificial-insemination comedy "The Baster" may be undergoing a name change after the title tested poorly with a focus group.

"Seed Ya Later" and "Loads of Trouble" are just two alternatives mentioned by Vulture, who broke the news of the change.

Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman star in this presumably dark comedy, based on a short story by Jeffrey Eugenides, about a 40-year-old woman who decides to have a child by way of test tube.

What she doesn't know is that her best friend (Bateman) swaps in his own specimen for the one she gets from the sperm bank. The film finds the two old friends reunited after seven years apart.

With the film due to come out Aug. 20, there's still plenty of time for a change, it's just a shame they feel compelled to. If this film is as demented as it sounds, it's not going to be a hit with the folks who helped "Marley & Me" take in more than $140 million.

This marks the second time this year a comedy has faced a late name change. The Tracy Morgan-Bruce Willis comedy "Cop Out," directed by Kevin Smith, was originally titled "A Couple of Dicks." In that case, the consolation title looked like an F.U. from Smith to the suits who called for the change.
