Robert Redford showed off his baseball skills in the 1984 classic "The Natural," but now the former University of Colorado pitcher wants to move up to the front office.
Redford, 73, told USA Today that he's eyeing a project in development where he would play a key role in "Branch Rickey and Jackie Robinson."
"I'd like to play Branch Rickey," he tells the paper of the executive who made the historic signing of Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers. Rickey, who also started the baseball farm system to train players, died in 1965 at the age of 63.
But first he has to finish his latest indie film, "The Conspirator," which he directed and produced. The movie follows the trial of Mary Surratt (Robert Wright Penn) who was implicated in the assassination of President Lincoln. Redford plans to finish editing that movie in the next month.
