James McAvoy's “I'm With Cancer” Ready to Roll

With shooting set to begin this month in Vancouver, James McAvoy and Seth Rogen's new cancer comedy has found distribution.

"It's rare to find a script that had you laughing and crying in equal measure or a cast and director as perfectly suited to get the tone of this unique and moving film perfectly right," said Summit Entertainment's president of production, Erik Feig, who bought the rights to "I'm With Cancer."

"Cancer" was written by former "Da Ali G Show" producer Will Reiser, about his own experiences learning he had cancer in his mid-twenties. James McAvoy is in the title role, with Rogen, Anna Kendrick and Bryce Dallas Howard supporting.

McAvoy's career has been something of a disappointment since his star-making turn in "The Last King of Scotland," and Rogen's developing predilection for terminal-illness dramedy ("Funny People") is a bit disconcerting, but they're both talented.

Plus, Kendrick was one of the highlights of the overrated "Up in the Air," and Johnathon Levine, who wrote and directed the very nearly very good "The Wackness," is at the helm.
