The All-Time Most Expensive Private Residence in Miami Sold

The all-time most expensive private residence in Southeast Florida was just sold in Miami Beach at the whopping price of $27 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. Set atop the Setai Resort and Residences, an oceanfront South Beach complex, the 7,100-square-foot penthouse takes up the entire 40th floor of The Setai.

The home was purchased by European investors for $15 million in 2010. Since then, they’ve often leased it for at least $30,000 a night to guests like Simon Cowell, Madonna, Jim Carrey, and U2. They sold the unit to an anonymous buyer through a Delaware entity under a limited liability company.

The home has four bedrooms, six bathrooms, and wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows that offer a 360-degree view, and a 3,000-square-foot rooftop terrace complete with kitchen, Jacuzzi and infinity pool.

With such large, spanning windows, we can only speculate that you can smell the Atlantic Ocean in the premise. But who knows--40 floors is a mighty high walk-up. Though surely most sane people take the elevator.
