Tray tables might have had their heyday during the '50s and '60s as a convenient spot on which to eat your TV dinner, but this DesignSponge project by photographer and blogger Ashley Ann makes a compelling case for bringing back the small, portable surface. She rescued a tray table that was destined for trashy, but we think this technique could work on any metal piece. Just apply a new coat of spray paint, cut out your stencil (we think this is the most difficult part depending on how intricate your design will be) and spray on a jazzy color of paint.
