A charity-minded crowd met up Tuesday night for the Cupcakes & Cocktails event at One Lounge (1606 20th St. N.W.) Members of the local media -- including NBC4's John Schriffen and host Natasha Barrett of ABC7 -- helped judge the cupcake competition. Yeah, we know, some people have all the luck.
b+l bakehouse and Chatman's D'Vine Bakery & Cafe took the title of Top Cupcake, in the small and large categories, respectively. Other awards went as follows:
- Prettiest Pastry: CakeLove
- Fanciful Flavor: Batter Up
- Tastiest Topping: Red Velvet Cupcakery
- Totally on Topic: Divinely Decadent Desserts
- Give Me Seconds: Heller's Bakery
More than 110 guests voted for a People's Choice award, which went to b+l bakehouse.
One Lounge owners Seth McClelland and Niko Papademetriou mingled with guests who sipped on signature One Lounge cocktails.
The event raffled off a seven-day cruise, and event ticket sales and a silent auction helped raise more than $7,000 for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. Bonus: Everyone went home with a Georgetown Cupcake.
