Bisnow reports that Lafayette Tower at 801 17th St. NW earned LEED Platinum certification. It's D.C.'s first commercial office building to achieve that status.
And they did it without green paint.
The building has a green roof (like the one pictured above, only different) and energy-efficient mechanical systems, according to Bisnow.
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification is determined by the U.S. Green Building Council.
