Got Weeds?
AP

The same recent rains that have inspired weeds to sprout will make them easy to remove, without using pesticides.

Even deep-rooted weeds will pull easily from moist soil. The trick is to grab the weed as low to the ground as possible and then pull with a steady force. Don't tug.

Weeds in garden beds can be defeated by robbing them of light. One way to do this is to apply a light layer of mulch, no more than 2 inches deep.

A more permanent solution is to plant a ground cover that will elbow out future weeds. To find the right ground cover for your site conditions, visit a public garden to see what thrives in sun, shade, slopes and wet or dry conditions. Take a notepad and camera.
