The Rev. Willie Wilson

The Rev. Willie Wilson -- best known for his activism with his Union Temple Baptist Church in Ward 8 -- is getting involved in the neighboring Ward 7 council race.

Wilson, who lives in Ward 7 on Highwood Drive, on Thursday will endorse Rev. William H. (Bill) Bennett, who is challenging incumbent Yvette Alexander.

Bennett has been active in community and church issues in Ward 7 through his Good Success Christian Church and Ministries.

The endorsement will be made on the steps of Wilson’s home at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Bennett spokeswoman Raymone Bain told News4 that Wilson believes that Bennett has been more active in community affairs than the current council member.
