Mayor Focuses on Schools, Public Safety, People in State of District Address

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser called for the nation's capital to invest in schools, public safety, infrastructure and people in her second State of the District address.

In the speech Tuesday evening, Bowser urged residents to balance change with preservation and growth.

She said the city will increase its education by $75 million over last year, the largest investment in public education in the District's history.

Bowser says the city will continue to implement policies and practices that keep the trust between residents and law enforcement, including a body camera program.
