The Republican National Convention is a family affair for Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell.
His daughter, Jeanine, will have the honor of addressing the RNC crowd, just a day after McDonnell stands behind the same podium.
Jeanine McDonnell, 31, who served in Iraq as an Army platoon leader, will introduce Sen. John McCain about 8 p.m. Wednesday. A fellow veteran who was wounded in combat will join her on stage.
It’s not the first time Jeanine McDonnell has been in the spotlight. She has campaigned for her father and she sang the national anthem at his 2010 inauguration.
The honor also highlights Virginia’s pivotal role at the convention and in the election. Delegates from the commonwealth have been getting star treatment with visits from actor Jon Voigt and Romney’s eldest son, Tagg. The delegation also has some of the closest seats to the podium on the convention floor.
