Former Deputy Fairfax County Executive to Be Named County Executive

Next week the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will name Edward Long the new county executive, News4's Julie Carey confirmed Friday.

Long, who once served as deputy county executive and chief financial officer, will succeed County Executive Anthony Griffin.

Long, 59, is retired but active with the county.

Griffin, 65, is retiring after more than 10 years in the role. His last day is April 24.
