Democrat Mark Herring and Republican Mark Obenshain participate in a campaign debate hosted by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.
The recount in Virginia's historically close race for attorney general will start Dec. 16 in Fairfax County.
Richmond Circuit Judge Beverly W. Snukals scheduled the recount for Dec. 17-18 at a hearing Wednesday, allowing Fairfax County to begin its recount a day early because of its population and array of voting machines.
Once localities complete the recount, a three-judge recount court will convene to settle any challenged ballots Dec. 19.
Democrat Mark Herring has a 165-vote edge over Republican Mark Obenshain in the closest statewide race in modern Virginia political history.
Obenshain requested the recount, which will be done at taxpayer expense.
Both men are hoping to succeed Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.
