News4 first reported on Corey Stewart's higher level ambitions in December.  At the time, fresh off his reelection to Prince William County Board chairman, he said he already had his eyes on statewide office.

Inside Nova reported that office is - lieutenant governor.

    From the paper:

Stewart stated that he would be running for the office on Charlottesville-based Newsradio 1070 WINA on Monday and would be making a formal announcement later this year.

This past fall, the Prince William County conservative had entertained the idea of running for U.S. Senate.  He chose to sit it out, however, and gave his endorsement to George Allen.
