House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) hammered nails into platform where the next president of the United States will be inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2013.

According to Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), the platform for the stage is important: "It'll hold almost 1600 people, including former presidents, Senators, Representatives, cabinet officials, justices, Joint Chiefs and diplomats from all over the world."

Those 1600 people will be glad to know Boehner took to the hammering with great verve, swinging so decisively he visibly startled Pelosi.

And while no one knows exactly who the next president will be, Pelosi and Boehner partook in the bipartisan tradition that shows their commitment to symbolism, if nothing else.
