Wizards, Cavaliers Exchange Words on Which Team Has Better Backcourt

The start of the NBA season is roughly a month away, but it seems that the Wizards and Cavaliers have already gone about rekindling their rivalry.

It began innocently enough with an innocuous remark from guard Bradley Beal, who said Monday that he and John Wall "definitely" comprise the league's best backcourt duo.

That comment didn't set well with Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters, who called Beal's assertion "nonsense."

"[Beal is] supposed to say that, but I know deep down, he's not messing with me and [Kyrie Irving]," Waiters told reporters via ESPN. "I think me and Ky are the best backcourt, young backcourt. That's all."

Then Wall jumped in.

“Why he say that? They haven’t seen a playoff game yet so when they make one they can start talking,” Wall said Tuesday. “But if you’re going to be the best backcourt, you have to start. This is the year he’s probably starting so let’s see who got [the] best backcourt. You got to be a starting backcourt to be the best backcourt.”

Washington and Cleveland first meet Nov. 21.
