DC United Unveils New Uniforms

DC United has unveiled their new uniforms for the 2012 season, and the team has clearly bucked the new trend of excessive athletic gear by offering only two options.

MLS works with Adidas to update the league’s uniforms every two years, and while we loved the previous version we’re also digging the pops of color we’ll see on the pitch next season.

“United maintains its iconic all-black home uniforms moving into 2012, with the club’s new white away jerseys featuring a red collar for the first time. Both jerseys feature an embossed District of Columbia flag, paying homage to United’s 16-year history in the Metropolitan Area. Four stars, representing United’s four MLS Cups, remain fixed above the team crest.”

In addition to the home and away look, United’s 2011 third jersey will continue to be used in non-League encounters such as international friendlies.

The new kits will officially debut during FirstKick weekend in March, but the team is offering 30 percent off at their online team store for fans who want to keep their gear fresh.
